Dead End: A Philosophical Diary
« on: June 24, 2014, 09:40:58 pm »
Well, here it goes.  I am testing the ability of this forum to upload documents.

I will start with Prime Factors Code.

I created Dead End with OpenOffice Writer but saved this with .doc file extension.  It won't allow .odt

It was too large to upload.  Eventually I will break it down into sections and upload the chapters here.

I also saved pfac.c as pfac.txt so you would have to rename it to pfac.c were you wish to compile it.

The solution to this would be to pay a one time $30 fee for Download Pro.  I just don't see the real need for this kind of capability here.

I mean, I managed to compress nearly 30 years worth of nonsense (thousands of pages of pigShit) into about 360 pages of readable text.  I'll just make the files smaller. I think the maximum size for each file is 512KB.

The Anti-Hero of the consumerist society evidently is not inclined to spend money unless it is for food, shelter, or clothing.

Anyway, this is yet another instance where I am displaying a certain resistance to consumerism ... which gives me an idea for a topic ... Consumerism.  Let's see, I don't want to start creating all kinds of different sections.  I guess an analysis of "Consumerism" would be appropriate for the "Why Work?" section ... we can use the "Why Bother?" section for analyzing the deeper issues such as "being reluctant to reproduce," "thinking it better to never have been born," et cetera.

This section, "What Now?", can be considered the "General Discussion" section - with a little touch of "The Tin Foil Hat Club" to spice it up.

Dead End | Chapters {1, 2, 3, 4}

Testing file attachment function.  File size MAX < 512 kilobytes

1001001 is ASCII code for the letter 'I.' This could indicate the robot's motivation for escape - it's attainment of self-awareness.  Some believe the song was inspired by the movie THX 1138.

Yes, these would be under "Dead End: A Philosophical Diary".

The thing is, to access them, one must use the mouse pointer like a lock-cracker.   It can be tricky, and unless one is persistent, one could easily pass right by it.  You have to hover over Dead End until the list of chapters appear then carefully scroll down to click on each chapters.

All these chapters are from the full document I already emailed to you.  I'm just putting these here for convenience.

Thanks for the responses, by the way.  Being ignored by one's society is a major strategy the gorts use to silence truth telling.  I'll be back soon to read your other replies.

I will eventually get the rest of the chapters extracted from the main document and place them here.  Then, in a different thread I'll organize more recent stuff ... and just keep winging it on the fly.

Why?

Quote from: Q
I have thoroughly enjoyed re-reading some of those old "Crazy Ghost" journals. They remind me that I am not alone - others out there have chaotic inner (and sometimes outer) lives, and "bizarre" philosophical thoughts.

I may start a journal here myself. If I don't, it's really only because I am pathologically lazy.

I noticed one has to be logged in (registered) in order to access or even see these files.  Cool.

From November 2006

Intrusive thoughts … unfulfilled desires … society – a network of lies and deception. We live in a society which encourages playing a role, being phony. People seek the rewards of a good reputation. Individuals low on self-deception are at such a disadvantage in social life that this increases anxiety levels, even leading to a psychopathological personality. An extraordinary amount of energy is devoted to “impression management,” the effort to establish credibility, to acquire the finances needed to purchase the paraphernalia (designer clothes, luxury automobiles, etc) to impress with. I have long since stopped caring about such superficial status symbols.

The “old” natives of the "New" World knew how to handle the phenomenon of resentment caused by the aristocratic snobbery brought over by the lords and masters from across the pond. They recognized that such snobbery was used by a small handful of Euros shame all the other Euros (which the natives thought were actually slaves, since they all seemed to have a “boss”). They (the natives hostile to such gortdom) just got rid of anything anybody wanted. They didn’t own property and they dressed in rags. They laid low and let the aristocrats, egalitarians, sycophants, and government-paid assassins all look on them as worthless.

I concur. Its all about psychology-Study: Women dig dudes driving hot cars | Reuters.
As Gary says I hate psychology & love philosophy. And the good luck to women with dudes driving hot car.

I don't want to impress any one anymore, not women ,not anymore.I am done playing these games. Like Dante's Belacqua, I will just sit under the rock and wait for time to take its course.

Here is an alternate avenue we might take.  Scan the diaries onto the Internet raw - all 66,600 pages of humiliating reality under the title: Mike Hentrich's Field Guide To Living A Life Not Worth Living:  A Parody of Tom Brown Jrs Field Guide To Wilderness Survival.

I certainly don't have the resources.  Believe it or not, I've been using an old clunker my nephew sent me back in 2013.  To be honest, it would have taken me much longer to compile those few hundred pages of "Dead End" without it.  As you may have witnessed from The H Files, the old machine also added a whole new dimension to my daily life ...

I had installed a $20 250 GB hard-drive on it, and put Linux on it.  It was great to have access to all that free software.  I am a Linux head.  I still have my Gangster Edition of XP on the ancient hard-drive (strange how the new one fried before the old one ... This leads me to wonder if it is in the wiring).  The poor old beast is in its sensitive overtime stage, so every time I open her up, I risk another part kicking the bucket.   :P

It's cool though, hanging from a thread.   The hard-ware that I am drawn to is getting less and less expensive by the year.   Now the 250 GB drives are down to $16 (you just need an SATA to IDE adapter for like $4).  The problem now is, even when I order another one I would have to transfer the dinosaur to an Internet connection, since, even though I burned Linux Mint 17 xfce edition to a DVD, the installation process, when it comes to grabbing my favorite programs/software, is very tedious with a direct connection to the Internet.  It's do-able with USB flash-drive and library and tar files, but ... eh, why bother, right?   ;D

Uh-oh, I have some typing today.  I better stay focused.

As far as a scanner, you might experience a light-bulb in a cloud above your head A-HA eureka moment when you hear about this Bonaventure character.  Mind you, I am no saint.  You know I am a sinning philosopher like Ikkyu, and, like your namesake, I am a madman when I am drunk ... but there is this idea forming about the bulk of my notebooks which have become a kind of anchor to me anyway.

See bhikkhus
