{∅, {∅}, {∅, {∅}}} : Rage Against the Meat Grinder

I was taken by surprise by this little scandal.  While I do not share political views with the songwriter/singer/artist, I think he has allowed himself to be used as a tool (the kind of money-spinning tool Roger Taylor of Queen is singing about in Fight From the Inside), and that maybe his vocal support for the defunding of the police might be behind this scandalization.   I understand that this is not "global" or "international" news.  As a teenager, I never cared for Springsteen's music, but as I aged, many of his songs made their way into my bones.

I sympathize with this man, and I am fully aware of those who love to hate.  As a teenager, I myself may have indulged a bit in such Springsteen-hating (if only due to his popularity).  You know, I would be drawn to the music of the freaks and the punks. 


When I say I do not agree with Springsteen politically, I only mean that, well, he encourages people to vote Democrat.  I am neither Democrat nor Republican.  In fact, I do not vote, nor would I ever encourage anyone to just vote for "the lesser of the two evils."

But we don’t need the Democrats. And we don’t need to waste our time on their pointless and fake elections. Maybe down the road when we are strong we can run our own anti-candidates to expose the electoral charade from within. But right now we should join the nonvoters and do everything in our power to explain how utterly crucial it is for the people ourselves to take direct action to preserve our future from capitalist barbarism.

Conflicting Reports Emerge About Bruce Springsteen’s DUI



In defense of  the title, "Working Class Hero," one need not submit to the slave-mentality in order to be a working class hero.  In fact, that one born into the working class might be able to escape wage-slavery is what makes the working-class hero a hero, no?   

Sorry, I just can't call it.  I feel awkward even "reporting" about a celebrity, and yet, I care about the songwriter/artist/performer ... as for the celebrity, well, that fame must end up being a double-edged sword, and possibly even a curse.   Nothing that is so, is so.   Regardless of his views, I hope the damage done is minimal.   I wonder if there is an angry song coming, or if the social pressure will be so fierce that the man will be forced to repent for the sake of "being a responsible role model" 

I wish I could say that I don't give a shit, but the situation has gotten my attention.

PS:  The Jeep commercial shows the lower 48 states of the territory called "United States of America" with a cross over it ... the whole "Manifest Destiny" thing all there, front and center in the mind's eye.  It is kind of creepy ... makes me wonder if Mr. Springsteen is as deep a thinker as I thought he was.   I suppose my own views may be quite a bit more radical than the Boss's.

When Obombya was elected president, he said, "I may be the president, but Bruce is still the Boss," I think that such statements may have blurred the lines between The Established Order and any kind of Resistance to Consumer Society.   Songs about beer and cars are not 'revolutionary' ---- and for decades now, very few working class stiffs could ever afford a ticket to a Springsteen concert.   Those seats are reserved for paying customers; that is, for professionals with gainful employment.  The proles?

Or, just maybe, the so-called "Middle Class" is not really a middle at all, but only about 15% of the population.   80% of the population is some kind of underclass or labor pool.   

Proles are followers and joiners, not disrupters. They follow and join existing companies, guilds, unions, and bureaucracies. They don’t challenge such institutions with entrepreneurial competition, much less make them obsolete. And so the proletarianization of the American spirit served the short-term interests of the economic elite.

The new proletariat was not limited to blue collar workers. It also included white collar proles: the “company man,” professionals, and bureaucrats.

Work, like school, was all about grudgingly performing assignments handed down by authority figures (bosses).

Maybe we each need to become our own leaders, our own Teachers.  No more bosses, no more presidents, no more professors!

  We need time to think.  In fact, I do not even think there is any "We" in these Divided Snakes of Amerika.  This world is so overwhelmingly full of shiit.


The gort enemy has come into us, the enemy is inside us.   The Enemy exploits our ego, exploits our needs and our wants.

If we all just had a jeep, a cowboy hat and boots ... we could drive across the country counting the crystal meth labs on the outskirts of the towns.   

Something I just can't picture the likes of Bruce (Springsteen), Barrack (Obama), or Joe (Biden) ever writing or saying:  "Fuck God and the horse He rode in on."

 That is the spirit I am looking for.  I am not looking to serve the short-term interests of the economic elite.
