Unfortunately, at this time, I can't track down Butler's little book called "The Pessimist's Handbook" on the Internet.  Also, I am unable to attach any documents in private messages.   I would hope that Martin Butler would not mind us sharing his "free material" ... so, in the spirit of Open Source, I am attaching the PDF to this post.

Just because it is free of charge does not make it any less valuable.
