Mr.Silenus,

They tell us that suicide is the greatest piece of cowardice... that suicide is wrong; when it is quite obvious that there is nothing in the world to which every man has a more unassailable title than to his own life and person.-Schopenhauer

Take care.

Mr.Silenus,

Thanks for the video.Paradoxically, I found the video to be very elegant.

Keep well.

Hi Holden,

Yes, here we have platitudes such as "my body my choice" are passed around like a cheap rag, with concerns to bodily autonomy. Few understand that suicide/assisted suicide is a dignified action, often done to put the subjective suffering to rest. To know when one's body has had enough.

As if that were not "taboo" enough, who would dare to say that full bodily autonomy is possible? I did not decide to be born, let alone to have the intensity of certain thoughts and feelings and complete dead-air with others. This unceasing, eating-defecating body was not my choice. But is there ever any choice?

I am glad that you enjoyed the video above. It is refreshing to hear a scientist admit just how luttle can be understood by the paltry human "intellect" and "sensory-inputs."

I am coming around to thinking that the human species has not an ounce of intellect in it. A mere ideal, just as is "rationality."

We're just primates fuckingg-off on a rock this side of the Void. While there is much to be laughed at due to this view, the inherent suffering of all sentient life drags on. Animal cries and shrieks met with the indifferent silence of the Cosmos, without a rational light to show us the way out of the primordial darkness.

I hope you are securing your flour and rice with relative ease.

Global industrial civilization is teetering: corporate fascism for us all will be the last step of madness before the curtain falls on this nightmare swollen by fossil fuels.

The planet continues to warm. Siberia has wildfires already ten times worse than last year, highly likely due to unprecedented methane release. The oceans are warming and shifting their gyration patterns unprecedentedly. "Preppers" recommend Siberia/Russia as one place to be after civilization collapses. I think we're going to eventually bake ourselves alive with heat-trapping gases.

Let's find out just how much "intelligence" the highly social primate with a linear-thinking / symmetry-biased brain is.

Take care.

Rota Fortunae ( To Mr.Silenus)

Mr.Silenus,

1.I earnestly believe that only men’s faces and the outward aspect of things change, while the same things reoccur again and again. Thus we are witnessing events that happened earlier. But the alteration in names and outward aspects is such that only the most learned are able to recognise them. That is why history is a useful and profitable discipline, because it shows you and allows you to recognise what you’ve never seen or experienced.
-Guicciardini

Senor Raul is the resident historian here and among all his anecdotes what I have found to be the common thread is human suffering and misery.

2.“The gods don’t care about mortal things”-Machiavelli.

3.Rota Fortunae( random spinning of the wheel of fortune)

4.This idea of Rota Fortunae is of great importance to me. What I mean to say is that I am suffering, just as the men who lived in the Buddhas age must have suffered. As Cioran must have suffered.
Ofcourse, I dont look anything like Cioran, but that is not a substantial difference, I carry the same cross with which he was burdened.

5.You are a gifted writer and I hope some day you are recognised as such. But there is more, unlike most gifted writers you are a truthful writer and you do not allow optimism to fool you.

6.I get wheat flour, its the cheapest staple food, I knead the dough, then I make flat breads. I eat the bread with red pepper and salt.

7.After my tuberculosis treatment, my mother feed me a lot of food, and I was beginning to gain weight but now I am back to where I started.
I dont like to be rotund.A true pessimist must be lean.

Please take care.

discussing the fossil fuel angle is indeed interesting. some argue that Slavery itself was abolished because we had access to a cheaper energy source , not a bona-fide of a "progressive" humanity.

humans have a lot of hubris, nonlinear thinking is nigh impossible. second order effects and non-linearity is always the rule in any thing  nature-related.

Ibra,

That is correct. Human beings make for good "energy slaves," but they must be fed, sheltered and kept docile. That requires a lot of energy. Then we discovered fossil fuels and found that it needs little energy input to extract a gainful output. So we still enslave each other, but do less of the work: you can't just let people be free and not on schedule. Every animal must be domesticated on this planet.

Is it impossible to sustain 8 billion and growing humans without fossil fuels for agriculture? Likely so.

A delicate game, but we will exploit any and every "energy slave" out there until this planet is rendered inhabitable for much of life at present. Biological life hastens the entropic properties of the cosmos.
