I have begun an exploration into Ernest Becker's thought, having received by mail Escape From Evil and The Birth and Death of Meaning. I am currently reading Escape From Evil, but skimming through Birth and Death I found this little bit to share with all of you:
Nietzsche said of Schopenhauer that he was a model for all men because he could work in isolation and care nothing for the plaudits of the human market-place.
There it is, plain and simple.
