I believe that embracing such an attitude in my "quest for technical gnosis" (in mathematics and programming) could save me from much unnecessary strife and despair, not so much on the no fixed plans, but certainly removing the intent of arriving. It is such an attitude which has enabled me to overcome egotistical clinging to identity (as far as "being" at a given "level"), which has, in turn, allowed me to return to areas where I always wish I had more time to become more familiar with, even if it feels as though I am going over and over again certain concepts.
One of the obstacles to this approach is cultural indoctrination into a hierarchical mind set, where there seems to be pressure to be "forging ahead" as opposed to forging deeper in depth.
