Suicidal Happiness
October 7, 2020 by Arik Eindrok

Happiness? I was told it was possible for it to exist, that I shouldn't hang myself even before I'd tasted it. I thought about it for a few moments, but I knew that would go against this existence and this world, because everything here is pain and suffering. These are the expressions I've learned from people and from life. At first, however, you are innocent and will be hurt, but when you learn how disgusting it is to exist, then everything changes, and you know it's better to hurt than to be hurt. It's like the hedgehog's dilemma: after a while, you learn to keep the proper distance, and that way you don't hurt others or be hurt. And if they hurt you, or you hurt them, it's because you overstepped that distance. Besides, people aren't meant for people, because they only know how to hurt each other. No one is meant to know anyone, and fate, in fact, is just chaos at its finest. Perhaps that's why happiness has been sacrificed in exchange for banal pleasures that only increase the emptiness within us.

Despite everything, I know what it feels like to love someone and be hurt by them; to suffer your whole life for all the damage caused. However, I'm grateful for it now, because it made me open my eyes and see beyond, understand things. Besides, it was always my fault; I deluded myself into thinking I could be happy. But that's human nature, and people change partners all the time. I clung to it, that was my mistake... I always wanted to impose what I thought would make me happy. Now, however, I no longer desire anything. I just wait for death, and I truly believe that is true happiness, because then nothing and no one can disappoint you; it's liberating, beautiful, and sublime. To detach myself from this body, this mind, this spirit forever and let myself fall into the ineffable essence of nothingness. To dissolve every moment, space, and memory into absolute nonexistence; to allow disappointment to take hold of us and once and for all to commit the act of suicide should be the most splendid thing in life.

But ultimately, it's all just chance; it's the reference point we choose to view existence, and that places me in a certain reality, trapped in a single prison among infinite possibilities. Anyway, I must admit: I'm bored of existing. Now I'm no longer interested in searching for meaning in existence, because even if it existed, I wouldn't care anymore, since this world is over. Deep down, it's funny; at least that's how it seems to me. Every day I go out into the streets, mingle with society, and see people fighting for things they believe are important or for people who don't care. Preoccupied with power, possessions, and money, for the most disgusting and banal things imaginable. Setting absurd goals and ridiculous objectives that only reinforce the vile indoctrination that makes their pathetic lives seem valuable, even though they aren't. And well, I only have one last thing to say before I die: my greatest desire and my only happiness has always been suicide.

“On April 1, 1876, 149 years ago, the greatest philosopher who ever lived died, the only one who raised the standard of truth without bowing to worldly illusions. He did not construct life-affirming narratives sustained by injustice, nor did he connect suffering with the belief that, despite inherent evil, existence would still be worth perpetuating, because despite the apparent good, its roots remain in evil.

Logically, he is not a skipping snowflake, a special being, for there have been hundreds of thousands of people who thought like him, or who suffered so much that their feelings were the same as his, but because they were alone or could not empty their thoughts, they remained silent.

As distressing as it is to realize that life is the source of all evil (and not just murder, the bully, or the torturer, because it is easy to point the finger at the culprit without recognizing that these evils are inherent to existence), the truth has yet to be established. And this truth is manifested in the conscious rejection of procreation.
His metaphysics of the death of God is questionable, but his proclamation that procreation is the root of all evil is unshakeable.”
Josep Promortalista-Antinatalista-FB

"A new myth was created about the social value of the elderly. Primitive hunters, gatherers, and nomads had usually killed them, and peasants placed them in the back room, but now the patriarch appeared as the literary ideal. He was attributed wisdom solely because of his age. At first, it became tolerable, and then appropriate, for the elderly to diligently attend the rituals deemed necessary to preserve their tottering bodies. No doctor was yet in service to perform this task, (...). But it was this peculiar demand that helped create a new genre of titles for healing."

"Being born into this world is like being dropped into a hole that is sufficiently deep for you to spend your entire life trying to climb out of, in the manner of a futile Sisyphean struggle, without ever succeeding. True and lasting happiness will never be found in this existential wilderness that the world is, for it only lies in the void of nonexistence from whence you were pulled into the world, by the tragedy of your birth. While you are here, the best you will ever have are delusional coping mechanisms, that will only offer some temporary respite to your tormented soul" ...

If I disdain happiness, if disgust with being is greater than anguish with non-being, I recognize in suicide a privilege of humanity."

“My philosophy not only does not lead to misanthropy, as might seem to anyone who looks at it superficially, and as many accuse it of doing, but by its nature it excludes misanthropy, by its nature it aims to cure, to extinguish that ill humor, that hatred (not systematic but nevertheless real hatred) which very many people who are not philosophers, and would not wish to be called or thought of as misanthropes, feel in their hearts nonetheless toward their fellow humans, either habitually, or in particular circumstances, by reason of the ill which, rightly or wrongly, like everyone else, they receive from other people. My philosophy makes nature guilty of everything, and by exonerating humanity altogether, it redirects the hatred, or at least the complaint, to a higher principle, the true origin of the ills of living beings, etc. etc.”
Giacomo Leopardi, trans. Kathleen Baldwin et al., Zibaldone (2013), [4428] ISBN 978-0374296827

“We love to complain, but if we were given a perfect world, we'd tell it to go to hell. Not because we want to make things better, but because we're designed to screw up our lives alone. We can't handle absolute happiness, we get bored, we feel uncomfortable, we start looking for trouble where there aren't any. It's like when we "have everything" we want and suddenly feel empty. We like to suffer, and if there isn't suffering, we invent it.”
Marcelo Perez-FB

"It would even be immoral not to feel disgusted by humanity, both one's own and that of others. And it would be a rudeness undeserving of forgiveness not to commit suicide after having fully entered the halo of despair. Who could endure its overwhelming pressure for any length of time? Who wouldn't go mad at the brutal uncertainty within its anomalous and shadowy edges?"

Holden,
You are
hypersensitive and the world is overwhelming. One will become a monster if one eliminate one´s feelings. And that´s what what the world is turning us into.

Homo homini lupus est, man is wolf to man. We, humans, betray, harm and kill. And we are among human wolves. This is not a world to sow gentleness.

Yes, the Gulag has never ended. Slavery is part of life. From what I read Lenin and his henchmen were bloodthirsty revolutionaries working for the powers in the shadow. He and his minions believed that the world only through terror would change and it did change in this factory of horror called Earth.

Once we are here there is no liberation.

Are we not also Artificial Intelligence? Who designed our brains and bodies? We are sShitting monkeys with a powerful software. Who are our programmers?
Stay well.

Don Raul,

Thank you for your message.

As the god old PK Dick used to say -The Empire Never Ended. An Empire of Steel. I don’t know what to do with life. What I mean is, either I am hypersensitive or the world is overwhelming.
I mean reading Mainlander now. I understand his background because he is based off of Kant and Schopenhauer but I am going slow to make sure that I understand it properly.

With mathematics and philosophy one needs to take it slow. Also, I am reading Russian History. The Reds were trying to removed the Tsarist despotism. Turns out, they produced a much worse variety. In the Brezhnev era they started sending the dissidents to mental hospitals instead of the Gulag, which was more Stalin’s style.

I think slavery, or the Gulag never ended. All across the world. Sure they supposedly pay one for it these days but it is still there. Why is that? They say AI will liberate everyone. Excuse me, liberate us just like Socialism was supposed to be? I have say that the amount of death and malaise and suicide that is in PK Dick’s writing really endears him to me. I like this kind of Sci-fi,not, the Star Trek ,I’m sorry,Star-FAKE variety.

Take care.

You bore a son, but you ignore him. You abandon him worse than a dog, worse than for the lowest beast!!! From you I will carry only the name you gave me. The faithful love I had for you, I have still, unfortunately. But I will fight it. You are no more my father. I disown you. Live in your abundance, enjoy it as much as you can. For myself, I have as my only treasure, bread and water. But it’s precious treasure because it fortifies me every day and gives me the strength and will to hold me on only one target.

Excerpt from a Letter to His Lawyer (1782):
“There is no good or evil in nature, only force and necessity. It is men, in their arrogance, who dare to dictate laws to the universe, calling natural impulses ‘virtue’ or ‘vice.’ But nature knows no virtue; it knows only instinct. The wolf does not feel guilt for devouring the lamb—so why should man be condemned for following his desires?

They call me wicked because I refuse to kneel before their false gods, because I mock their feeble laws, because I dare to live as nature intended. But tell me—who is more wicked? The man who follows his passions openly, or the hypocrite who masks his own cruelty in pious words? The rulers, the priests, the judges—are they not the greatest criminals of all?

You ask me if I regret my ways. My only regret is that I was born into a world of cowards, who tremble at the sight of truth. They will lock me away, burn my books, and curse my name—but I promise you, long after their temples have crumbled to dust, my words will remain.”

WHY IS THERE SUFFERING?
Suffering is a puzzle: why does it exist in a world where we can experience bliss, joy, and love? This question has been troubling humans for centuries, making us wonder about the nature of our existence. Suffering takes many forms, such as physical pain, emotional trauma, and psychological distress. Although we all experience suffering differently, it's something we all go through. Many people have tried to understand suffering by holding onto specific beliefs or ideologies. But what if

I told you that we still don't have a good answer to this question.

Some believe that suffering is a consequence of our wrongdoing, a divine reminder to seek forgiveness. Their view suggests that, as inherent sinners, we are destined to suffer. But does this explanation hold true for an innocent one-week-old infant afflicted with severe illnesses, crying out in agony? What transgression could they have committed? Similarly, what sin has a two-week-old child with cancer, committed to deserve a life of pain and distress? Have we ever stopped to ponder why some notorious wrongdoers live lives of ease, while righteous individuals endure poverty, suffering, and disease? If we suffer as a result of our sins, why does it seem so imbalance?

Others propose that suffering is a consequence of our free will. But who willingly chooses to suffer? Some argue that it's a result of our actions, a form of divine and cosmic justice. Yet, what could a one-week-old child have done to deserve such immense pain and agony, crying out daily due to cancer and meningitis? What free will could they have possibly exercised?

Some suggest that suffering is a test from God, designed to gauge our devotion and firmness. However, wouldn't an all-knowing God already be aware of our commitment, rendering the test unnecessary? What purpose does the suffering of a one-week-old child with meningitis, NEC, or neuroblastoma serve? What could God possibly gain from putting innocent children through such immense pain?

Some respond by saying that God will reward these children with paradise or any other forms of rewards for their suffering. But what could God possibly gain from causing a one-week-old child immense pain, only to reward them later?

Couldn't God have simply granted them paradise without subjecting them to suffering? Doesn't this make God appear cruel and psychopathic? If I were to beat a young child into a coma, simply to build them a free mansion, wouldn't that make me a psychopath? Why would God inflict suffering on a child for a reward? And if God is unable to prevent suffering, doesn't that suggest limitations to their power? Why should we worship a God who cannot alleviate the suffering? Epicurus posed similar questions, challenging the notion of an all-powerful God.

Some propose that our suffering stems from the ancestral sins of Adam and Eve, who defied God's commandment not to eat from the forbidden tree. As punishment, they were condemned to eternal damnation, and, allegedly, their descendants inherited this fate. However, this raises fundamental questions: why must we atone for the transgressions of others? And why does this explanation exclusively account for human suffering, while ignoring the plight of other animals? Again, As some critics might sarcastically say: why do we inherit the sins of Adam and Eve, but not the wealth of Solomon? Doesn't this imply a sadistic and psychopathic God?

Some philosophers attempt to sidestep the issue of divine intervention by viewing suffering as an inherent aspect of existence. They argue that just as life brings joy, it also brings suffering. Nietzsche, for instance, famously said, "To live is to suffer." His perspective seems to account for the suffering of a one-week-old child and every other forms of sufferings.

Simply by existing, we are destined to suffer. However, Nietzsche takes this idea further, suggesting that "to survive is to find some meaning in the suffering." He advocates for becoming the "Übermensch" (or "Superman") of our suffering, transcending it through means like financial stability, love, music, reading, writing or living life to the best state.

But what meaning can a one-week-old child, wracked with severe pain, possibly create? How can they become a Superman to their suffering? It seems Nietzsche's philosophy falters in the face of such innocence. Similarly, Fyodor Dostoevsky proposed that the mystery of existence lies not just in staying alive but in finding meaning to live for. Yet, what meaning can a suffering one-week-old child find to live for?
Schopenhauer presents a bleak perspective: "Suffering is the essence of life." At first, this idea is intriguing, but upon further reflection, it's crushing. Doesn't this imply that life is inherently not worth living? If we suffer merely because we exist, doesn't that justify ending our life to spare ourselves from suffering? Would we not be compelled to consider suicide or euthanasia to prevent our pains? Who among us can confront the harsh reality that suffering might be an inherent part of existence? Should we simply accept that a one-week-old child's cries of agony, caused by genetic conditions beyond their control, are an inevitable consequence of their existence?

Some might argue that citing the example of a one-week-old child is an argument from extremes. However, their criticism misses the mark. An argument from extremes falsely presents only two polarized options, dismissing the possibility of a moderate middle ground. My inquiry, on the other hand, is not dismissing the possibility of a moderate middle-ground, but rather citing the limitations of our existing explanations for suffering. When I ask why a one-week-old child suffers, I am just underscoring the fact that despite our various ideologies and theories, we have yet to provide a comprehensive account for the ubiquity of suffering. Our beliefs may offer insights into specific aspects of suffering, but they ultimately fall short in explaining why suffering exists across all spectrums of life.

Some transhumanists argue that instead of asking "why" we suffer, we should focus on "how" to end suffering. But isn't this approach also misguided? Doesn't understanding the "why" behind suffering provide the key to finding solutions? Don't we need to ask "why" a one-week-old child suffers in order to discover how to alleviate their pain?
Let's be honest with ourselves: we all wonder why we suffer. We may pretend that everything is fine, but the question lingers in our minds. Why do we suffer? We've been searching for answers for centuries, yet we continue to fail. Are we not ashamed of our inability to find meaning in our suffering? Are we not forgetting the consequences of our failures? Tell me more: why is there suffering?
Olarewaju Akanni-FB

"The true horror of existence is not the fear of death, but the fear of life. It is the fear of waking up each day to face the same struggles, the same disappointments, the same pain. It is the fear that nothing will ever change, that you are trapped in a cycle of suffering that you cannot escape. And in that fear, there is a desperation, a longing for something, anything, to break the monotony, to bring meaning to the endless repetition of days."
— Albert Camus, The Fall

Holden,

It is understandable. I remember in the Gnostic series, Gnostics 2/4 - Cathars & Bogomils the True Christians,  a dialogue between the Cathar perfect, Guilhabert de Castres and Saint Dominic of Guzman, where the latter says the world is in pain. Well, that is what happens.

You have been reflecting on the nightmare of existence, the cruel optimism, our biological traps, the sadistic cruelty of life, the planetary farm, the control of our pre-programmed bodies and brains by our makers, etc., etc.

Stay safe.

My grandma just died yesterday at 92 and beyond being very sad about it, it also made me realise just how pointless everything is. She technically lived an “ideal” life what with having a family and decent career and living a long life and only got rewarded with becoming incredibly feeble and losing her mind after a botched anaesthesia dose for a hip operation. It’s just so grim and horrible that her existence is pretty much a better case scenario than the vast majority of other lives are in this hell world.

"Why is this deep, fundamental joy that surges through the veins and throat of someone who has decided to kill themselves? In the face of death, nothing lasts longer than the brutal awareness that we are still alive."
The Business of Living - Cesare Pavese
On June 23rd, 1950, Pavese, Italy's greatest modern writer received the coveted Strega Award for his novel Among Women Only. On August 26th, in a small hotel in his home town of Turin, he took his own life. Shortly before his death, he methodically destroyed all his private papers.

“When I die—and I will die, don't worry—let me go without comedy, without theater, without empty words or forced rituals. I want no ceremony. Neither civil nor religious. No tribute, no forced gathering of faces, no imposed consolation. Silence is my only will. I have requested to be cremated. My ashes, if anyone wants to follow me to the end, may be given to the river. Without assistance. Without looking at it. In absolute solitude. And here I beg you, as the only wish that matters to me in this last hour: NO ONE has to come to my funeral. N O B E. If you loved me, don't come. If you understood me, don't come. If you didn't care, even less. I don't want any body present when mine is gone. If you never spare a short, sincere, silent thought for me, this will be so much more than I ever hoped for. The rest, let the wind take it. Ashes, and nothing more. Ashes and oblivion. Everything that begins deserves to end.” - Joseph.

A STUDY OF ASSASSINATION

DEFINITION

Assassination is a term thought to be derived from "Hashish", a drug similar to marijuana, said to have been used by Hasan-Dan-Sabah to induce motivation in his followers, who were assigned to carry out political and other murders, usually at the cost of their lives.

It is here used to describe the planned killing of a person who is not under the legal jurisdiction of the killer, who is not physically in the hands of the killer, who has been selected by a resistance organization for death, and who has been selected by a resistance organization for death, and whose death provides positive advantages to that organization.

EMPLOYMENT

Assassination is an extreme measure not normally used in clandestine operations. It should be assumed that it will never be ordered or authorized by any U.S. Headquarters, though the latter may in rare instances agree to its execution by members of an associated foreign service. This reticence is partly due to the necessity for committing communications to paper. No assassination instructions should ever be written or recorded. Consequently, the decision to employ this technique must nearly always be reached in the field, at the area where the act will take place. Decision and instructions should be confined to an absolute minimum of persons. Ideally, only one person will be involved. No report may be made, but usually the act will be pr operly covered by normal news services, whose output is available to all concerned.

JUSTIFICATION

Murder is not morally justifiable. Self-defense may be argued if the victim has knowledge which may destroy the resistance organization if divulged. Assassination of persons responsible for atrocities or reprisals may be regarded as just puni shment. Killing a political leader whose burgeoning career is a clear and present danger to the cause of freedom may be held necessary.

But assassination can seldom be employed with a clear conscience. Persons who are morally squeamish should not attempt it.

CLASSIFICATIONS

The techniques employed will vary according to whether the subject is unaware of his danger, aware but unguarded, or guarded. They will also be affected by whether or not the assassin is to be killed with the subject hereafter, assassinations in which the subject is unaware will be termed "simple"; those where the subject is aware but unguarded will be termed "chase"; those where the victim is guarded will be termed "guarded."

If the assassin is to die with the subject, the act will be called "lost." If the assassin is to escape, the adjective will be "safe." It should be noted that no compromises should exist here. The assassin must not fall alive into enemy hands.

A further type division is caused by the need to conceal the fact that the subject was actually the victim of assassination, rather than an accident or natural causes. If such concealment is desirable the operation will be called "secret" ;; if concealment is immaterial, the act will be called "open"; while if the assassination requires publicity to be effective it will be termed "terroristic."

Following these definitions, the assassination of Julius Caesar was safe, simple, and terroristic, while that of Huey Long was lost, guarded and open. Obviously, successful secret assassinations are not recorded as assassination at all. [Illeg] o f Thailand and Augustus Caesar may have been the victims of safe, guarded and secret assassination. Chase assassinations usually involve clandestine agents or members of criminal organizations.

THE ASSASSIN

In safe assassinations, the assassin needs the usual qualities of a clandestine agent. He should be determined, courageous, intelligent, resourceful, and physically active. If special equipment is to be used, such as firearms or drugs, it is clear that he must have outstanding skill with such equipment.

Except in terroristic assassinations, it is desirable that the assassin be transient in the area. He should have an absolute minimum of contact with the rest of the organization and his instructions should be given orally by one person only. His safe evacuation after the act is absolutely essential, but here again contact should be as limited as possible. It is preferable that the person issuing instructions also conduct any withdrawal or covering action which may be necessary.

In lost assassination, the assassin must be a fanatic of some sort. Politics, religion, and revenge are about the only feasible motives. Since a fanatic is unstable psychologically, he must be handled with extreme care. He must not know the iden tities of the other members of the organization, for although it is intended that he die in the act, something may go wrong. While the Assassin of Trotsky has never revealed any significant information, it was unsound to depend on this when the act was p lanned.

PLANNING

When the decision to assassinate has been reached, the tactics of the operation must be planned, based upon an estimate of the situation similar to that used in military operations. The preliminary estimate will reveal gaps in information and possibly indicate a need for special equipment which must be procured or constructed. When all necessary data has been collected, an effective tactical plan can be prepared. All planning must be mental; no papers should ever contain evidence of the oper ation.

In resistance situations, assassination may be used as a counter-reprisal. Since this requires advertising to be effective, the resistance organization must be in a position to warn high officials publicly that their lives will be the price of rep risal action against innocent people. Such a threat is of no value unless it can be carried out, so it may be necessary to plan the assassination of various responsible officers of the oppressive regime and hold such plans in readiness to be used only i f provoked by excessive brutality. Such plans must be modified frequently to meet changes in the tactical situation.

TECHNIQUES

The essential point of assassination is the death of the subject. A human being may be killed in many ways but sureness is often overlooked by those who may be emotionally unstrung by the seriousness of this act they intend to commit. The spe cific technique employed will depend upon a large number of variables, but should be constant in one point: Death must be absolutely certain. The attempt on Hitler's life failed because the conspiracy did not give this matter proper attention.

Techniques may be considered as follows:

1. Manual.

It is possible to kill a man with the bare hands, but very few are skillful enough to do it well. Even a highly trained Judo expert will hesitate to risk killing by hand unless he has absolutely no alternative. However, the simplest local tools a re often much the most efficient means of assassination. A hammer, axe, wrench, screw driver, fire poker, kitchen knife, lamp stand, or anything hard, heavy and handy will suffice. A length of rope or wire or a belt will do if the assassin is strong and agile. All such improvised weapons have the important advantage of availability and apparent innocence. The obviously lethal machine gun failed to kill Trotsky where an item of sporting goods succeeded.

In all safe cases where the assassin may be subject to search, either before or after the act, specialized weapons should not be used. Even in the lost case, the assassin may accidentally be searched before the act and should not carry an incrimin ating device if any sort of lethal weapon can be improvised at or near the site. If the assassin normally carries weapons because of the nature of his job, it may still be desirable to improvise and implement at the scene to avoid disclosure of his ident ity.

2. Accidents.

For secret assassination, either simple or chase, the contrived accident is the most effective technique. When successfully executed, it causes little excitement and is only casually investigated.

The most efficient accident, in simple assassination, is a fall of 75 feet or more onto a hard surface. Elevator shafts, stair wells, unscreened windows and bridges will serve. Bridge falls into water are not reliable. In simple cases a private meeting with the subject may be arranged at a properly-cased location. The act may be executed by sudden, vigorous [excised] of the ankles, tipping the subject over the edge. If the assassin immediately sets up an outcry, playing the "horrified wit ness", no alibi or surreptitious withdrawal is necessary. In chase cases it will usually be necessary to stun or drug the subject before dropping him. Care is required to insure that no wound or condition not attributable to the fall is discernible after death.

Falls into the sea or swiftly flowing rivers may suffice if the subject cannot swim. It will be more reliable if the assassin can arrange to attempt rescue, as he can thus be sure of the subject's death and at the same time establish a workable al ibi.

If the subject's personal habits make it feasible, alcohol may be used [2 words excised] to prepare him for a contrived accident of any kind.

Falls before trains or subway cars are usually effective, but require exact timing and can seldom be free from unexpected observation.

Automobile accidents are a less satisfactory means of assassination. If the subject is deliberately run down, very exact timing is necessary and investigation is likely to be thorough. If the subject's car is tampered with, reliability is very lo w. The subject may be stunned or drugged and then placed in the car, but this is only reliable when the car can be run off a high cliff or into deep water without observation.

Arson can cause accidental death if the subject is drugged and left in a burning building. Reliability is not satisfactory unless the building is isolated and highly combustible.

3. Drugs.

In all types of assassination except terroristic, drugs can be very effective. If the assassin is trained as a doctor or nurse and the subject is under medical care, this is an easy and rare method. An overdose of morphine administered as a sedat ive will cause death without disturbance and is difficult to detect. The size of the dose will depend upon whether the subject has been using narcotics regularly. If not, two grains will suffice.

If the subject drinks heavily, morphine or a similar narcotic can be injected at the passing out stage, and the cause of death will often be held to be acute alcoholism.

Specific poisons, such as arsenic or strychine, are effective but their possession or procurement is incriminating, and accurate dosage is problematical. Poison was used unsuccessfully in the assassination of Rasputin and Kolohan, though the latte r case is more accurately described as a murder.

4. Edge Weapons

Any locally obtained edge device may be successfully employed. A certain minimum of anatomical knowledge is needed for reliability.

Puncture wounds of the body cavity may not be reliable unless the heart is reached. The heart is protected by the rib cage and is not always easy to locate.

Abdominal wounds were once nearly always mortal, but modern medical treatment has made this no longer true.

Absolute reliability is obtained by severing the spinal cord in the cervical region. This can be done with the point of a knife or a light blow of an axe or hatchet.

Another reliable method is the severing of both jugular and carotid blood vessels on both sides of the windpipe.

If the subject has been rendered unconscious by other wounds or drugs, either of the above methods can be used to insure death.

5. Blunt Weapons

As with edge weapons, blunt weapons require some anatomical knowledge for effective use. Their main advantage is their universal availability. A hammer may be picked up almost anywhere in the world. Baseball and [illeg] bats are very widely dist ributed. Even a rock or a heavy stick will do, and nothing resembling a weapon need be procured, carried or subsequently disposed of.

Blows should be directed to the temple, the area just below and behind the ear, and the lower, rear portion of the skull. Of course, if the blow is very heavy, any portion of the upper skull will do. The lower frontal portion of the head, from th e eyes to the throat, can withstand enormous blows without fatal consequences.

6. Firearms

Firearms are often used in assassination, often very ineffectively. The assassin usually has insufficient technical knowledge of the limitations of weapons, and expects more range, accuracy and killing power than can be provided with reliability. Since certainty of death is the major requirement, firearms should be used which can provide destructive power at least 100% in excess of that thought to be necessary, and ranges should be half that considered practical for the weapon.

Firearms have other drawbacks. Their possession is often incriminating. They may be difficult to obtain. They require a degree of experience from the user. They are [illeg]. Their [illeg] is consistently over-rated.

However, there are many cases in which firearms are probably more efficient than any other means. These cases usually involve distance between the assassin and the subject, or comparative physical weakness of the assassin, as with a woman.
