    • What Now?
Quote from: Silenus

How can one who is prone to the existential not look at the above simplified diagram, and not ask "why bother?" when it comes to the products and ventures of human hubris?

How many geologists look at the above diagram and see nothing but the literal stacking of organic suffering and death? What else can it say but that the "march" of biological life is the accumulation of graves?

The geologists do not speak up. Maybe they understand better than any that there is no "justice" to be done.

As we all are aware one way or another, those who speak up will be silenced. The will-to-life will not be questioned; surely it cannot be tampered with. Some call it a miracle that this cosmic process, if you will, came from no place and is heading no where. To others, it is an imposition, a burdensome debt of flesh and time.

I must have done something right in this life to have been blessed with you handful of deeply honest thinkers taking the time to articulate rarely expressed sentiments.  Thanks Silenus.   With Cioran, I wish to slander the universe.

Do you think the qualifier, "revolutionary," would be more appropriate for our indictment against the burden of existence?

Holden,

Thank you for your response. I hope you are not having problems with your medication.
If you tell people here that the institution of matrimony is bankrupt they will understand that couples do not have any money.  The human farm needs the two sexes to fatten this planet.

On Monday morning I went to Lambaré, a town near the city capital. In this town´s cemetery my parents and grandmother are buried so I went to pay the taxes for their burial site. In the afternoon I read the news that the municipality office was closed because a female employee in the traffic department tested positive for the virus. The woman only went to work until last Thursday. The authorities say that many of her co-workers tested negative. She did not have any contact with people or taxpayers but again this is a risk we all face here.  In a state prison in Ciudad del Este, on the border with Brazil, the CCP virus arrived. Many inmates and functionaries have been quarantined.

The mass media is bombarding that all of us are potential carriers of the virus. We are the enemy. If people are recovering with the medication; then why will we need vaccines?

I really know little about history and little about Christianity. When the CCP virus arrived here I thought the Catholic bishops would speak loud and clear but up to now they have remained very quiet. They complained about the measures imposed on the attendance of churchgoers and a little about the corruption. Only 20 parishioners can go to Mass because of this pandemic in this phase. Besides they have to phone before they go. This is clearly a surveillance measure. But after their complaint only silence is the answer of the Catholic bosses.

Historians said that in the ancient Americas the priests of the indigenous lived normal lives with their wives and children. They worshipped the sun, rain, earth, mountains because to them they were realities of life. But then appear these strange men who became celibate and worshipped a sad man nailed to a cross. To them it seemed bizarre. How could these celibate priests be fully men if they never felt the procreative power of sex? How could they, wearing long robes, teach about matters of the spirit if they did not know anything about life itself?

Here many priests had to leave the country because of their work with peasants, students and political prisoners. I read that Vicente Cañas, a Spanish Jesuit who worked with the indigenous peoples in Brazil and Paraguay, abandoned the priesthood and joined the tribe of the Enawenê-Nawê. He worked to protect the tribal land from mining companies and land ranchers. This man was targeted by the Paraguayan dictator, Alfredo Stroessner. Later he was expelled from Paraguay for his work with the Guaraní, Cañas then made his home in Brazil with the Enawenê-Nawê, where he conducted spiritual retreats and visited the tribe regularly, helping them plant and care for the sick. One day in April 1987 he was found by his hut, his skull crushed, his genitals cut off, his possessions destroyed. His skull was eventually found in a remote bus station in Minas Gerais.

Indeed, the human animal is warlike because it is in our genes.  I remember watching the images in Rwanda where people were butchering each other with machetes. This tool was truly the weapon of mass destruction there. The figures are that 800,000 Tutsis were massacred and those Hutus who protested were either killed or shut their mouths and went along with the killing. I remember reading a journalist asking a Tutsi why he was in jail and he said that he killed 900 people and expected to be killed in turn.

Stay safe.

As in a casino, everything is designed to lead us to believe that we really have some chance of success. Let us remember, however, the main premise: the house always wins. It was nature that made the rules, not us.

The final aim of history is a crumbling field of ruins. Its final meaning is the sand blown through the eye-holes of human skulls.

"Nature deals despotically with man. Men destroy one another like wolves. Plants and animals overgrow and stole one another. Nature does not observe the care and provision they require. Wars destroy what long artifice has established and cared for." (Kant, Opus Postumum)

The darker picture is always the correct one. When you read the history of the world you are reading a saga of bloodshed and greed and folly the import of which is impossible to ignore. And yet we imagine that the future will somehow be different."

Uh-oh ... not so fast, there, Spambots!

For how many years have we been able to host this Haven for Like-Minded Freedom Seekers without being bombarded by such inane nonsense?  Nearly 7 years.  Gortbusters only lasted about 4 or 5 years before they got hit hard.   Now, I have no choice but to have those who wish to register get permission first.  I would like to allow any one of myself, Holden, or raul - the most regular contributors to this unique message board - to allow individuals to register.  As it is, only I am administrator.  If I can make raul and Holden moderators of forums, maybe there is a way they could also give access via their private emails.

For now, I will simply no longer allow guests to post.  This might do the trick as far as eliminating Spambots.   I will still permit automatic registration unless those registered users post inane advertz for their products.

NOTE TO ADMIN-SELF:  Admin | Features and Options

Under "Post Topics and replies to the board"

Post new topics            always blank
Post replies to any topic    was checked, but now left blank

This might fix these annoyances.
