Schopenhauer's Decoy Birds(To Mein Freund and Mi Amigo)
« on: February 26, 2019, 01:35:46 am »
Decoy birds   lure others-we see a few seemingly happy  souls and foolishly imagine special possibilities for ourselves.Decoy birds are also wooden and lifeless. The spectacularly few among us who attain that level of fulfilment we dub"happiness" are the dullest  among us-the simpletons who dwell among illusions and fantasies, too ignorant to perceive reality for what it is.For those of us intelligent and sensitive enough to see reality starkly,Schopenhauer sneers that life is a business that does not cover its expenses.-Belliotti

Keep well,Mein Freund  and Mi Amigo.

What  nonsense to attempt to explain oneself,to know oneself! to want to turn oneself into a representation and then leave nothing which has all of these explained (connected) representations!  Is this not like letting the earth carried by Atlas,Atlas by the elephant ,the elephant by the tortoise ,and  the  tortoise by nothing?

Holden,

Once again, thank you for sharing these words. Millions of men and women despise reflections on existential issues. They would never ask if this world is real or if this world is like a reality show where every human act has been planned aeons ago or if humans are at the mercy of demonic jokers.

Their despise is punishment. Punishment is easier than understanding.

I understand that. I, unfortunately, did the same thing.  I realized, better late than never, that this Earth is a prison soaked in blood and we are monstrosities. In this slaughterhouse on a massive scale called Earth it is better to keep oneīs mind frozen 24/7/365. No see, no hear, no speak and no think.

Stay safe.

Senor Raul,

That's the first statement of Epicurus's that I have agreed with. :)

"And the strict master Death bids them dance."

Holden,
Thank you for the link. I am sure there must be thousands of cases here where men are not the real fathers. In any case it is the children who suffer.

About Epicurusīs counsel: "Live in anonymity, live in obscurity, live unknown, live unnoticed", well, you know better than me, that millions of human beings do not want that. They want to become celebrities, see their names printed big. Last year in the cemetery where my parents are buried, I saw some very big and very well decorated graves with big crosses. They must have cost a lot of money. Even in death most do not want to go unnoticed.

Take care.
