Schopenhauer told people that certain of the paragraphs of the World as Will and Representation were written by the Holy Ghost...
Senor Raul suffers from eye problems, maybe he can listen to the book.

I tried reading some of the books on Schopenhauer's philosophy, even Magee who is supposed to be pro-Schopenhauer,messes up badly-too much argument, not enough insight.

A humble request to Mr.H: If you come across a particularly insightful passage in the Manuscripts & please do share it with us.

I have come across several I would like to type up.

I will have to skim through what I have read and jot down the pages so as to peck away at that.

Usually it is well into the night before I get to it.  His manuscripts are to me what the Upanishads must have been to him.

I have to go to probation today, and I have been very caught up in cleaning up an old computer so as to install Arch Linux on it.   It's a joyful pain in the ass.  I get filled with anxiety whenever I have to dismantle a laptop to clean out the cooling system with canned air.   There are always left over screws when I put it back together, and when it boots up I think maybe the Holy Ghost was at work, for the man (actually, the ape) lacks confidence and is always afraid he will do damage ...

Having gotten through that, the next stage is partitioning the space for dual boot.

But, yes, I will note your request.   I had been thinking along those lines.  I will keep this in mind, and rather than tell you about the gist of it, I will copy it verbatim.

It will be a slow process.   There are already quite a few ...

You may have read his theory about marriages .... how young men should share a wife so as to be able to afford to keep her, as well as to be able to satisfy her sexually.  How thoughtful he was to consider the female orgasms ...

Then when she was no longer desirable, the two chaps could "marry" a younger woman.

It's like a reverse harem, but the woman would have more than one husband ... How revolutionary!

Anyway, I better focus so as to get to probation.  I am used to farting around at my leisure, so when I have to report, I really feel the chains tugging me, as you must feel every morning you report to the salt mines to live out your Ligottian Corporate State Horror scenario ...

I think by Holy Ghost ,Schopenhauer meant that the Universe was telling something(denial of the will to live) to itself through him.

Consciousness ...

We are only consciousness, right?

The part of us that is "the will to live" is simply that part that does not experience death.

There is no death, for there is no consciousness of death.  When I am dead, there is no I aware of being dead, and as long as I am conscious of breathing, I am not dead.

It sure is a riddle.

Its a riddle alright. As Schopenhauer says-when we try to gain full comprehension of ourselves by turning our knowledge inwards we find ourselves like a hollow glass globe, from whose vacany a voice speaks:but the source of this voice is not to be found within the globe, while we desire to comprehend ourselves ,we find, with a shudder ,nothing  but a vanishing spectre.

Its a great honour to have you to discuss such things.Nobody else I know wants to talk about this.In the gospels Jesus gave the sight to the blind. You did the same to me by telling me about The World as Will &Representation.

Thank you ever so much!
