I have to confess that I have not been into music too much lately, and with the advent of the string of "talent shows" where individuals get on stage and sing other people's song, where they compete, judged only on their "voices" ... oh, yeah, "The Voice", "American Idol", "X Factor", and the like ... these shows, when I overhear them in the background, make me feel like I really don't like music much.
And yet, when I listen to the following I recall getting evicted from an apartment for blaring this music so loud that the building literally shook.
So, here is another oddity that I really enjoyed back then. Hell, even a couple of the local [Matawan, New Jersey] kids wanted copies of this next one. The thing is, this too is an oddball. This features the brother, Chris, who plays the bass, on lead vocals. Holy Fuuck, I think he is even laying down the guitar tracks.
Normally, lead vocals are sung by the lead guitarist brother Joe, who is an extremely talented musician, by the way.
The band consists of brothers, yes, all siblings. When I was just a child, I would sleep over their house and drink beer throughout the night. The oldest brother is my age. We were all just kids. They have a German mother who did not have the "puritanical American view" towards youth drinking beer. It was kind of cool, actually. Ironically, all the kids had to read for a certain amount of time each day. The father is a real brainiac. He put up a reading schedule on the wall. His library is immense! So, when I was visiting, I had to also engage in reading during reading times.
Anyway, here is Mojo. I will be listing only a small handful of songs, only my very favorite ones that I remember really getting into when smoking some herb or pounding down the Molson Ice (beer from Canada).
Over the years, I have grown contemptous of the music industry, and I am not too impressed with the talent shows. So, I am placing some Koncrete Kite songs here as a kind of middle finger to the clueless status quo and "popular taste".
