"HE SERVED the CUSTOMERS,THEY CRUCIFIED HIM"(the bastards!)
A Target employee committed suicide just days after he was accused of stealing at the store.
Graham Gentles, a 22-year-old from Pasadena, California who suffered from Asperger's Syndrome, was 'paraded, around the store in handcuffs as a punishment for stealing, even though police and store management never found anything and he was never charged.

Three days after the incident, on July 18 of last year, he jumped to his death from the roof of the Courtyard Marriott in Monrovia.
'He said, "Mom, I've never stolen,"'  recalled the mother.
'He said, "They did the walk of shame, I had to do the walk of shame. But they only do that when people steal and I've never stolen a thing."'
She also told ; 'The only thing he said to me at that moment was, "Mom this is the worst day of my life."'

'Police forcefully grabbed him, emptied his pockets and pulled his hat off.'
Then, 'he was handcuffed and led to an office,' at the direction of a store manager.
'Gentles was shocked, confused and mortified at being handcuffed and walked through the Target store in front of co-workers and store customers. Gentles had no idea why he was being arrested,'.
This resulted in 'severe emotional distress,' something that was made even worse by his Asperger's condition , and ultimately his suicide.
'This is my only child."the mother said.

This evokes great anger in me.

Listen up, children, it does not pay to work!   >:(

General strike ... global ... now?   :-\

an aside:  will this include public libraries and mom&pop grocery stores?

The People will decide.  May be they could direct the government aid going to the churches to the Pizza Man, and the Pizza Man can turn the dough into cheese and tomatoes, recycle the bread into pizza flats and feed the masses during the Mexican standoff with the Banksters.   ???

There is much truth in jest.   ;)

Right you are-much truth in jest.

                                                   ..........................................
A former employee of a Fox station has shot himself dead outside the company's New York headquarters after accusing the news channel of 'ruining his life.'
Phillip Perea, 41, of Irving, Texas, shot himself once in the chest just before 9 a.m. outside the building in Manhattan's midtown.
Mr Perea had worked for FOX 7-KTBC in Austin as a promotions producer until June last year when he claims he was fired after 10 months.

Mr Perea criticized Fox News on his Twitter page writing statements such as 'will be homeless thanks to FOX lies. Is this the America you want?'
He also wrote other 'tomorrow the battle for liberty begins' as well as tweeting media figures asking them 'Will you take FOX executives into the no spin zone?'
Mr Perea posted dozens of videos on YouTube in which he states why he believes he was suspended and then fired from Fox News.

The lengthy clips, uploaded to YouTube between July of last year and Monday morning, have recordings of alleged conversations between Perea and coworkers.
The most recent video starts with the chilling intro 'you can murder a man without killing him' before segueing into another screen where he claims 'righteous cause demands a martyr.'
He states that '2014 was the worst year of my life and with a new year it is time for Fox News to have the worst year of its existence' and that his 'sacrifice' is to 'help everyone.'

This was the whole gist of Antonin Artaud's essay, "Van Gogh, The Man Suicided By Society."

I have been theorizing that there are perhaps far more "outsiders" and "refuseniks" than portrayed by the media circus.

Recall that when it was common practice for Romans to have Greek slaves, as well as the days when pharaohs "employed" armies of "workers" (owned slaves), the "slave" was often dressed as well as the "master"/"employer" so that the "slaves" would not know their numbers.

I try to remember this when interacting with the poor piteous drones working in the front lines.  Somewhere underneath the robotic representatives of the corporate entity is a human animal with chemico-emotional sentience.  You never know what any human being or any other being is going through inside-the-skin.

I used to reflect on this quite often as a maintenance worker for the State Park Service.

Much like in "The Planet of the Apes", we were "uniformed".  There was a clear demarcation between "Administrators" (orangutans),  "Law Enforcement" (gorillas), "Maintenance Workers" (chimpanzees), and "Secretaries" (I guess some were orangutans and others were chimpanzees).

I always felt like an orangutan who happened to be wearing a chimpanzee costume/uniform.  I never once thought the science fiction story of Planet of the Apes was ever about apes, but was always about the artificial hierarchies of human societies.

When i was a kid, it was actually a TV series, one of the shows I would enjoy watching.  I recall one of the most likeable characters was a subversive orangutan who sympathized with the chimpanzees.  He was basically a traitor to the "chain of command" ... like the night orderly in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest who gave allowed "the boys" to sneak in women and booze onto the psychiatric ward and even gave MacMurphy the keys to let him attempt an escape.

Anyway, yet another human being suicided by the systematic stupidity of his society.

With John Trudell i would advise anyone to "protect your spirit, for we are in the place where spirits get eaten."

Hitler's Suicide-Wagner-Schopenhauer
« Reply #5 on: October 01, 2015, 10:52:40 am »
The most famous of all quotations from Hitler about Wagner is that: "Whoever wants to understand National Socialist Germany must first know Wagner".

Wagner accepted Schopenhauer's ideas about the destructive powers of the Blind Will that underlined human psychology as the explanation for what drove human beings to be so destructive. Wagner wrote  about his discovery of the philosophy of Schopenhauer:
Apart from my - slow - progress with my music I have now devoted my time exclusively to a man, who - if only through his writings - has been a gift of heaven to me in my loneliness. This is Arthur Schopenhauer, the greatest philosopher since Kant, whose ideas - as he puts it - he has completed by thinking them through to their logical conclusion. ... His central thought, the final denial of the Will to Live, is of frightful seriousness, but the only Salvation. Of course this idea was not new to me but it was this philosopher who first showed it to me with such clarity. If I think back to the storms of my heart and the terrible cramp with which it clutched - against my Will - at the hope of living, indeed when these storms even now still rise in tempestuous strength - now at last I have found a palliative, which alone helps me to sleep in sleepless nights; it is the deep and innermost yearning for Death: total unconsciousness, absolute non-Being, the extinction of all dreams - unique and final Salvation!
The denial of the Blind Will was the source of Salvation. However, this Will was also the fundamental life force itself - so to deny it would mean nothing less than the denial of the Will to Live itself.

Let's compare this to Hitler's ideas about the Will.

The turning point for Hitler was the war on the Eastern Front against the Red Army. It is estimated that around 23 million Soviet citizens died as a result of the decision by Hitler to realise Operation Barbarossa. In the great Red Army counter offensive of Operation Uranus in November of 1942 the Wehrmacht 6th Army found itself surrounded as the Volga froze over in the dreadful cold of the Russian winter. Rather than take responsibility for sending his forces in ill prepared for such a situation, Hitler went wild with rage, blaming his military personelle for the situation. General Schmidt noted on his return to the Wolffschantze "The Leader himself will decide on all further measures fo military discipline in this matter". He took to taking over control himself in areas he was ill qualified, and started to grossly micromanage the situation.  Rather than attempt to break out of their encirclement or withdraw troops from elsewhere to allow the 6th Army to escape, Hitler fatally ordered that they "hold steady" and form a "Fortress". The result was a slaughter.

From this point on things progressively got worse against the merciless onslaught of the Red Army counteroffensive. So too did the increasingly out of touch Hitler's outbursts of rage. Particularly noteworthy in these rants was his increasingly desperate insistence on the unconditional belief in der Macht des Willens (the Power of the Will) that would overcome defeat the relentless onslaught of the Red Army:

Hitler was asking too much of the German Army. Major General Hans von Greiffenberg, chief of staff of Army Group Centre, said: ‘It is highly doubtful whether the Führer's order to stand fast – whatever the cost – was justified from a military point of view. He was determined to withstand the enemy - but the losses forced on our troops by making such a stand were extremely high. Hitler was strongly influenced by the example of Napoleon in 1812. But there was no proof whatsoever that a retreat, once started, had to lead to the collapse and disintegration of the entire front.
Then Greiffenberg observed: ‘Hitler did not want to realise what was really happening. Instead, he began to believe that all difficulties could be overcome by sheer, unbending willpower [der Macht des Willens]. This was the moment when the Führer finally lost touch with the realities of the war in the east.'

Note that a famous Nazi propaganda film by Leni Riefenstahl is entitled Triumph des Willens: the Triumph of the Will.

Hitler himself once said:
It is always the right of the stronger to assert their Will .
AAs the Red Army closed in on Berlin itself, Hitler wrote:
in spite of all setbacks the war will one day go down in history as the most glorious and heroic manifestations of a people's Will to Live."

With this it becomes absolutely clear that Wagner and Hitler's ideas are absolutely diametrically opposed to one another. For Wagner, Salvation for humanity could come only by awakening to the root of all evil in the Blind Will - and to deny it. For Hitler, his mission was the ruthless assertion of the Triumph of the Will at all cost, and the fanatical assertion of the Will to Live even as his Empire crumbled around him. He ended it all by finally committing suicide.

Here is what Schopenhauer had to say about the futility of suicide:
And conversely, whoever is oppressed with the burden of life, whoever desires life and affirms it, but abhors its torments, and especially can no longer endure the hard lot that has fallen to himself, such a man has no deliverance to hope for from death, and cannot right himself by suicide. The cool shades of Orcus allure him only with the false appearance of a haven of rest. The earth rolls from day into night, the individual dies, but the sun itself shines without intermission, an eternal noon. Life is assured to the Will to Live; the form of life is an endless present, no matter how the individuals, the phenomena of the Idea, arise and pass away in time, like fleeting dreams. Thus even already suicide appears to us as a vain and therefore a foolish action; when we have carried our investigation further it will appear to us in a still less favourable light.
But as far as the life of the individual is concerned, every biography is the history of suffering, for every life is, as a rule, a continual series of great and small misfortunes, which each one conceals as much as possible, because he knows that others can seldom feel sympathy or compassion, but almost always satisfaction at the sight of the woes from which they are themselves for the moment exempt. But perhaps at the end of life, if a man is sincere and in full possession of his faculties, he will never wish to have it to live over again, but rather than this, he will much prefer absolute annihilation. The essential content of the famous soliloquy in “Hamlet” is briefly this: Our state is so wretched that absolute annihilation would be decidedly preferable. If suicide really offered us this, so that the alternative “to be or not to be,” in the full sense of the word, was placed before us, then it would be unconditionally to be chosen as “a consummation devoutly to be wished.” But there is something in us which tells us that this is not the case: suicide is not the end; death is not absolute annihilation.
Therefore suicide affords no escape; what every one in his inmost consciousness wills, that must he be; and what every one is, that he wills. Thus, besides the merely felt knowledge of the illusiveness and nothingness of the forms of the idea which separate individuals, it is the self-knowledge of one’s own Will and its degree that gives the sting to conscience.
Suicide, the actual doing away with the individual manifestation of Will, differs most widely from the denial of the Will to Live, which is the single outstanding act of free-will in the manifestation, and is therefore, as Asmus calls it, the transcendental change. This last has been fully considered in the course of our work. Far from being denial of the Will, suicide is a phenomenon of strong assertion of Will; for the essence of negation lies in this, that the joys of life are shunned, not its sorrows. The suicide wills life, and is only dissatisfied with the conditions under which it has presented itself to him. He therefore by no means surrenders the Will to Live, but only life, in that he destroys the individual manifestation.
From the World as Will and Representation

For Wagner, as for Schopenhauer, the ultimate Salvation came when one denied the Will to Live, and destroyed the root of all evil: the Will to Power. Hitler's suicide was the final assertion of his will.

Exactly. Paradoxically, rather than being a denial of the Will, the suicide may be seen as an assertion of a supremely dissatisfied Will.  This is why, in our past discussions, I have pointed out how diametrically opposed my response to being born is to that of Hitler's even if I sympathize with the monstrous magnitude of his frustration.  From my earliest readings of Nietzsche I had a slight disdain for Nietzsche's dismissal of Schopenhauer.  I found his betrayal of Schopenhauer unforgivable, and I never saw Nietzsche as a "progression from Schopenhauer" but as a digression, whereas Cioran can be seen as a progression ...

If I trace through my earliest notes, I just might be able to discern that I may have been exploring Nietzsche prior to discovering Schopenhauer.  Regardless, while I collected Nietzsche's works, as soon as I started reading Schopenhauer, I left Nietzsche on the shelf.   Only after checking out Kant and Hume (to understand where Schopenhauer was coming from) did I check out Nietzsche again.

Nietzsche praised Schopenhauer as a great Teacher of mankind.  Then ... boom, he does an about face.   Hitler too.  He is all into Schopenhauer in his youth, and then abruptly abandons that view ... embracing Nietzsche's Will to Power.  It's rather fascinating what a vital role one's "philosophical leanings" have on the "unfolding of history", although, as I think we all will experience in our raw flesh, blood, and bones, Nature is the opposite of History ... All these grand narratives will be swallowed by the Great Abyss of Nature ... in time.

What you posted here is also related to our sensitivity to the significance of Hitler choosing Nietzsche's Weltenshuung over Schopenhauer's.   Since Hitler has more than enough detractors, I don't exert too much energy pointing out the fundamental defect in his character: a tragically strong will ... I will neither partake in psychoanalyzing Hitler's deep inferiority complexes or subconscious fears of genetic annihilation by "more sexually virile peoples".   There are plenty of scholars and psychoanalysts up to that task.   See Francis Cress Welsing.

On the other hand, we may find that, as a specimen under our microscope, Hitler can tell us a great deal about his counterparts who are our contemporaries.  They can be found in all walks of life, in every people, in almost every family.   We could start an entirely new thread exploring the phenomenon of "the strong will" and how it is lionized, how we are to bow down and pay homage to the strong-willed and view those with no inclination to dominate as being "weaklings" - one of Hitler's terms which make me question his judgment.

I will like to start a thread about the roots of fascism, how it spreads ... usually manifesting as a war of the "lower" (as opposed to "upper") working middle class against the "poor" and "unemployed freeloaders" or "untouchables".

There are many tangents one could go on from this post.

Several thoughts are triggered by the above quote:  Wagner's falling out with Nietzsche - was it based on Nietzsche's opposition to Schopenhauer?   I had read that Wagner and Nietzsche had been friends in childhood.  That's a whole 'nother can of worms.

Other thoughts:  It will be a very lonely path for he or she who opposes this Blind Will.  You will not be elected as some high official or be chosen as the team captain.

It will be futile to convince others that total annihilation is preferable to "survival at all costs."  The times are ripe for xenophobia, and a clever politician could easily manipulate the masses by tapping into their fears of genetic annihilation:  In both hemispheres, west and east, whether North America (USA, Canada) or Europe (Spain, Hungary, France, ... , Germany, ... , etc), the peoples of the southern hemisphere are heading north.  It's even been referred to as "The War of the Womb".

Soon they will be telling citizens that it is one's patriotic duty to reproduce!  (SS Baby Factories, Inc.)

From the looks of reproduction rates, it would appear that there is an unofficial and international movement to gently lean into extinction by not replacing current deaths with births ...

 And yet ...

"But there is something in us which tells us that this is not the case: suicide is not the end; death is not absolute annihilation."

In that case, is the disappearance of one's genetic type really absolute annihilation?

Is the disappearance of one's entire species really absolute annihilation?

Let's apply our mathematical thinking to this quandary.

Suppose one wants out of this situation.

Is there a way out of this situation?

Meanwhile, another student runs amock on a people-shooting spree ... Daniel Quinn was right about making a graph of these massacres over the years and noticing their exponential growth.

It seems that the youth are finding the world as it is not fit for living in.

One should be commended if one can get through it with doing minimal harm to others.

It helps for discover a certain amount of pleasure in solitary studies, but I suppose not everyone is wired that way.

Of interest:  Hitler's Philosophers by Yvonne Sherratt.

There is commentary from H-163 (2013) : Mental Insurrection 3, pages 21 to 28, that I may type up if I ever find myself THAT calm ...

[bottom of page 25]: Could this be the reason I shun Heidegger's work. move along to Merleau-Ponty, and consider David Abram the legitimate heir of Hussurl?  Am I unique in my intellectual integrity and EMOTIONAL HONESTY, what might be called existential authenticity?

[at the end of this post, after Koyyanisquatsi, I left a review of the book from commentarymagazine DOT com.]

I did not know where else to place this.  I suppose that I would prefer to be the manifestation of our species' Denial of the Will to Live, thereby being a kind of antithesis.  I think I have mentioned before that I would not mind at all being to Schopenhauer what Hitler was to Nietzsche.  The problem with that statement is its potential to be misinterpreted by someone in an entirely different orbit.  They would not understand me as you do, Holden.    This is why it is such a relief for me to keep this ongoing correspondence with you - and in a technically "public space" rather than just email.

Imagine an scribbler turned orator who could move the masses to the denial of the will to live!

To elaborate and expand upon statements that might otherwise be misinterpreted or taken out of context - this eliminates that strange compulsion one of our recent posters had to delete his posts.  Speaking for myself, I think these discussions are worthy of documentation.

My will to live is at the minimum.  Besides that, the nation of my birth is not exactly (to me) what Germany was to Adolf Hitler.  I mean, the United States of America is some kind of bizarre experiment gone haywire.  I find it a very creepy place.    And yet, from your description of India, and from I hear you say about certain comments made (only children and young adults study math; whereas 'real grown up' defer to the authority of a master, doing his/her bidding) ...

I suppose it is not my destiny to become an orator or to even try to influence "the masses" --- My way of being is not so much to assert or advocate a certain point of view, but to delve into the secrets of everyday life.  For this I need to silence the busy human voices around me [the media] and listen to things themselves; hence, like Walter Benjamin, I am drawn to solitude and to wandering.

I sense that others will discover similar secrets as I have in the same manner.   ;)

I remember reading a statement made by a Native about how the "white" settlers were all like slaves serving one ruler, whereas the Native was his own master with no boss but for the Natural Elements.

What may be occurring is that we have seen through the farces of society.   We are disgusted by the politics of "politically correct bullShit" ...  We are convinced that our voices will never be heard, that views such as ours will simply be ignored or marginalized as the ravings of dissatisfied serfs and disgruntled "sore losers."

Here is a review, Beyond Good, Quite Evil, A review of Yvonne Sherratt's Hitler's Philosophers by Andrew Roberts.

an aside [page 31 of H-163]:  DESERTIFICATION ----> Every two seconds a forest the size of a football field disappears on our planet, as of the Autumn of 2013.   So, how would a job paying $100,000.00 per year change any of this?   How would becoming a famous rock star change any of this?   How would "falling in love" or making a baby change any of this?   Hello?

Isn't this why I found George Carlin so enetertaining and amusing?  This world is so full of sHiiT with its lobbyists and celebrities and its professors in ivory towers!  When Carlin talks about DETACHMENT, when he said, "If you think there is a solution, then you are part of the problem," when he points out that "the Earth isn't going anywhere, we are!" - he was simply speaking the truth.  Way to go, George!
