Holden,
Thank you for your words, quotes and the video clip, The Stranger with Mersault and the Gnostic-themed movies. By the way I read Camus´s book over twenty years ago. While it is hot there, here we are in winter. We have had some very gray, rainy and cloudy weather this week.
My health issues, as time passes, grow worse. This is not new. We are inserted in a body that suffers, grows sick, rots and finally dies. I am sure I will exit this world with a lot of agony. Of course it is up to me to find a way and leave this world of sorrow, anguish and sadness. Last week I talked to an acquaintance and I said to him that we are living in a world full of pain and suffering. This person asked why I did not kill myself. This is not the first time they say that to me. I told him that I will die and so there is no need to hurry.
The simple fact of being a rational being makes us very aware that we are living in a very bad world. Those who are well-versed in Gnosticism say that the god of this world is the Father of All Lies, the Prince of Darkness, the Evil Spirit aka Satan. It is this god, Yahweh, that demands the human slaves “be fruitful and multiply”, so they say. People want to be happy at all costs but they do not realize, including me, that happiness does not exist in this world of flesh and blood.
The dark gods, those versed in Gnosticism say, that the human slave goes through cycles while they feed off of human suffering. We are their food. Our five senses, they say, are the receivers by which we, humans, are controlled with the emotions. We are not designed to be happy but to be predators, survive, and reproduce in this human farm.
Stay safe.
