This world is cruel. I often see young women who are not physically attractive. I don´t think they will experience any joy here.Well, that is the way it goes. Many of us are ugly, some are beautiful, or others like me ruined by the love for alcohol, addictions, diseases, etc.

Raul,
I understand you are addressing Holden, but I wished to let you know that I have thought about this often.  Consider Arthur Schopenhauer's sister, for example.  Her life seems to have been even sadder than her brother's - even with the wealth inherited.  The thing is though, some of the most beautiful looking women can become the most hurt, abused and inevitably deranged creatures.  This world must take its toll on all, and some of us have been wounded deeply by our experiences as animal creatures in environments.   We have processed the general alienation, damaged by not only "the civilizing process," but by our general experience of what it is to "exist" or "be" --- torment.

There is a great deal of envy, jealousy, animosity, acrimony, etc., ...

(See Love and Respect)

I wonder if seeing a beautiful woman such as Valerie June would cause feelings of ill-will in women not as easy on the eyes.

Do I myself feel acrimony toward "big and tall men" just because I am so "small-boned" ?   Am I like poor old Dizzy Duck that John Trudell sings about?  Do I have some god-dang inferiority/superiority complex?   Most likely.  I really hate witnessing ugly feelings in myself.   While drinking I may experience intense flashes of anger, and then, the next morning I experience dread and anxiety over intense confusions in my heart.
