GEORGE CARLIN: (1981)
I don't have "a nice day" anymore. Frankly, I don't bother with them. I feel as if I am sort of beyond the "nice day" now ... I feel as though I have had my share. Why not let someone else have a few? Why should I be hogging all the really nice ones? Of course, people still want me to have one. Everybody wants me to have one.
"Have a nice day!"
"Yeah, yeah, just give me my change, lady."

DISCLAIMER: While this may seem rude, it is not so much aimed at the cashier so much as at the employer who insists his/her employees smile and wish people a "nice" day.
There is a certain meanness in this world. It is a bi
tch of a planet.
Often hostile silence (Holden's kind) is more appropriate. I can't help but feel sorry for everyone. Maybe "stay safe" would be better than "nice day" ...
