Why the Gort Cannot Win
« on: April 18, 2021, 06:05:26 am »
I have found a couple statements made by old Nat/Q from the WhyWork? Forum which explain in a colorful manner why the gort cannot win.   Thank you, Holden, for reminding me of this.

1.
Quote from: Q
I must be a lumpenprole, since I seem to have a lack of class identification. From the mainstream, all I hear about is the endless troubles and travails of the comfy "middle class," who are mini-exploiters ("little Eichmanns") who can go pound sand for all I care. But from the socialists and most of the other alternatives, all I hear about is the wage-slave "working class," who also mean nothing to me because I'm deeply anti-work. Who talks about my class, the work-averse freedom lovers? Nobody but those who want to demonize us. In the "land of the free," nothing is more taboo than an actual desire for freedom.

Who stands for reading, writing, and napping all day? Who represents the person in the park, laying down for no reason but to watch the clouds?

2.
Quote from: Q
I too dream of the end of Takerville. But some dreams should be respected for what they are - dreams. It will not happen in my lifetime, but it will happen. It must happen sooner or later, for Takerville has been doomed since its inception. The trendy modern term for this is "unsustainability." I sometimes prefer the pithier "**** stupidity," but ultimately, they mean the same thing. A virus which kills its host dies. A "society" which kills its host (Earth and the stolen vitality of alienated human beings who inhabit it) will also die just as surely. These are simple facts of Nature.

All of this is happening simply because a relatively few people like to play God on Earth and control everything. These enormous parasites not only leech the physical, psychological, and spiritual lifeblood out of everything, but also train the rest of the thoughtless, stupefied gorts into going along with it and even rushing to their defense. They have it all sewn up, and none of them care that it will eventually collapse, because they will be dead by then.

As Gene Ray of "Time Cube" fame says, people are "educated stupid." The process begins at birth and is basically inescapable unless one suffers some horrible psychological accident, such as the curse of a high IQ and/or rejection by society. Usually it takes both. Only such "gifted/rejected" people are free to look critically at the society they have been excluded from. Those allowed into the mainstream will never see beyond it - they are Gort Farm residents for life.

Every infant is born with infinite worth and potential, both of which are systematically stolen from them until they are nothing more than a mindless wage-slave and oxygen waster. It's spiritual homicide. The gorts are basically automatons, worker drones, and human tools ("human resources"). They have been robbed of any opportunity for a meaningful life and swindled into believing the fraudulent substitute they are given is the best thing since sliced bread.

There's no hope of beating the Gort Farmers. But happily for Earth, their onslaught will not continue forever, because they have already beaten themselves, right from the start. Their paradigm of infinite economic growth and production/consumption is completely insane and cannot last more than the bat of an eye in history. But that bat of an eye is enough for them, if they can live their piggish lives within it.

I've been called "uneducated" by some. How wonderful. Sadly, it's not entirely true. As Mike is fond of pointing out, we all have our own "inner gort" installed somewhere along the line, and I'd like to bust those remnants of "education" and become totally uneducated. A genius is simply one who remains intelligent in spite of education. We are all born geniuses - we have to be taught how to be mindless gorts.

With the inner gort in mind, I am wondering if we can expound upon what makes gorts comical, and precisely why the gort within cannot win.

Can we destroy the gorts within our own brains (as well as the gorts we encounter in our own monkey spheres) by scoffing at it?   That is, how might we employ the mannerisms of the genuine Cynics to commit gorticide on ourselves once and for all?   Will we be able to commit mass gorticide?

Quote from: Arthur Schopenhauer
The genuine Cynics put up with what they could get for virtually nothing. They begged occasionally, but they did not work. Independence in the widest sense was their goal. They spent their lives resting, walking about, talking with everyone, and in scoffing, laughing, and joking. Their characteristics were heedlessness and great cheerfulness. Since they had no aims of their own, no purposes and intentions to pursue, enjoying complete leisure, they became councilors of others.

The gort believes that that which is so, is so.  They believe in security even when the notion of any kind of security in this irrational universe is totally absurd.   Things can change instantly, and we can lose consciousness out of the blue ... Maybe the main reason that the gort cannot win is the inevitability of the deaths of our animal bodies.   Do we cease to be when our animal body perishes?  It seems very likely - and yet we are made up of the minerals of the earth, so it is impossible to say.

We are not really coming up with anything new here, just using more humorous terminology to explore notions our species has been grappling with for eons.   The Upanishads must have been like a "How to Bust Gorts" manual for Arthur Schopenhauer!     8)

In the Resistance to Consumerist Society thread:

Quote from: I
Even when people rebel against this pressure to conform, the zoo keepers try to make money off the rebellion with music concerts, beer sales, and T-shirts.  The most radical thing to do is to be a minimalist.  I like the idea of a woman not wearing make-up.  It is kind of like my refusal to "lift weights".   I just don't feed into the propaganda which infects people with the compulsion to look like "Hollywood actors" ...

With Arundhati Roy I have to ask, "How can so many be controlled by so few?"

And along with Daniel Quinn I have to say that it is not so much the 1% living like gods, kings, princesses that disgusts me, but that the 99% aspire to emulate their ostentatious consumption.  We reach a point where we just don't care anymore.  Everything is set up to manipulate people into spending money so as to have the credentials of "success" --- Isn't it rather sweet revenge to witness that the gorts think they are winning in the game of life when the real treasures are not even for sale?  Those of us who do not chase after the status symbols will be branded as losers or even mentally deranged ... I say be strong and continue to resist.

There are far more outsiders than insiders.  If we only realized our numbers, we could shut the shit down by tomorrow morning.  And with George Orwell we must say ... And yet!

We just have to wait and see.  Perhaps the tide is turning.

If the gort does not understand that its Lifeworld is a representation in the mind, the Creature-Presence Itself will shatter the illusions eventually, no?

from Dead End 2011.11.24:

We spend our whole lives passively letting “society” tell us who we are. Maybe we can invent something better.

Gotta stretch my mind to handle contradiction
Who would have thought truth could be
Stranger than science-fiction?

The Spaniards exploit los Indios, then, when he had children, his children exploited the half-breed meztizo, then the pure blooded Mexican. The Children of God feed off the Children of Earth.

Alien Space God Jehova One. Then the meztizo exploits everybody: foreigners, Indios, and all. Then the Germans and the Americans exploited him, giving him a taste of his own medicine. Now the final chapter: the exploitation of everybody by everybody else. This rhetoric refuses to be “toned down” or “dumbed down” for mass-consumption.

From Dead End 2011.11.29
debt = money = slavery ====> debt-slavery

I am in the mood to read “philosophical novels.” With so many other distractions “out here,” I am in a very small minority as far as being into literature goes. As I mention frequently to other people’s surprise, in jails and psychiatric wards, literature seems to be appreciated more, sought after like gold, more so than in the universities where there is a lot of cheating and cutting corners, it seems. Tonight I am able to retain this love for literature as I “invite my own soul” to transcend the mass mind-control imposed on the populace.

When I went to pick up A Clockwork Orange, which is supposedly a philosophical novel, the librarian informed me that the book I had requested had arrived: Franz Fanon’s Black Skin, White Masks. They were able to track down an old copy from Guggenheim Memorial Library at Monmouth College, West Long Branch. I think it is the 1967 edition – the year of my birth. The original edition was published in Paris, France in 1952 as Peau Noire, Masques Blancs. The pages are brittle. I will focus on this text over the next few days while my mind is clear and focused.

While protesters occupy cities across the nation and around the globe, this obscure scholar investigates the Africana Phenomenology of Franz Fanon. Fanon asks, “Why write this book? Nobody has asked me for it, so why write it?”

“Well? Well, I reply quite calmly that there are too many idiots in the world. And having said it, I have the burden of proving it.”

I notice Fanon uses the word ‘dupe’ the same way I use the word ‘gort’. When describing the way he has witnessed hundreds of white men addressing blacks as though adults addressing a child, and how not all white men behave this way, he states that, “the subject of our study is the dupes and those who dupe them.”

The foot is healing slowly, Holden.   I have had to adjust my mind to the brute fact limitations faced by this current organism-as-a-whole-in-environments.   Korzybki's theories are making themselves felt strongly in my lived experience; that is, that Mike_subscript_yesterday DOES NOT EQUAL Mike_subscript_today.

Also, a couple aphorisms from The Dark Side are ringing loud and clear for me, such as:

The state of man: inconstancy, weariness, unrest.  One hour of pain is a better teacher than all the philosophers put together.   ~ Pascal

I looked up Korzybki some years back when you first mentioned him, but, could I request you to specify what exactly you mean here by "Korzybki's theories".

He went into great detail to lend mathematical rigor to the saying of Heraclitus:

No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man.

Thanks for the response.Your mind is full of wonderful treasures. This is just the kind of thing that interests me. I am doing maths and I hope that someday I would be in a position to share some nice things in mathematics with you.
